So far I know you have to be 21 and have 27 training hours to become a foster parent in Missouri. I'm trying to find out all the requirements because I am currently 18 and getting ready to start my Associates Degreee in Human Services. I will be 21 when I am done with college and would love to become a foster parent. If someone could help me figure out all the requirements I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
Have a blessed day! |

The best way to learn what you need to do to prepare to foster is to contact your local DHS (department of human services) or DCFS department of children and family services) sometimes in the same building. They can give you the information you need. You can also go to this link http://www.dss.mo.gov/
This should give you a bit of an insight as to what you should expect or better yet, google fostering in missouri. |

You don't have to have a degree to be a foster parent. However, you are making a wise decision to learn all you can. The more you learn about why children with different mental illness such as, ADHD & Bipolar to name just a few behaviors ,will help you a lot. I am also going to take human service classes. I am almost finish with my early childhood degree. Most of my classes will transfer over. Good luck! You can do it!
