I have been a therapeutic foster parent for about 3 years now. Technically. Unfortunately my husband was the only one on the license in the beginning because we were not married. After the first year, we were told I could be put on the license. My agency was supposed to do it. It is 2 years later and they still have not done it. We have asked repeatedly and I have taken classes. Now we are married and they STILL haven't done it. On top of that, they continually tell us we are not doing our job because my husband is supposed to be the primary caregiver since he is the only one on the license. He is in school and works full time. I tried explaining to them that we would not have this issue if they did their job, and her response to me was that she is too busy to take care of it right now. Seriously? Then she told me she did not have to talk to me about it since I was not the one on the license! I am so furious right now I could scream! I don't know who to turn to for advocacy. My licensing worker is supposed to be my advocate and she is obviously not on my side. Please help me. I don't know who to turn to.
