I am a foster parent and I am also a troop leader for my local girl scouts.
My Girls want to do something for foster parents and Shelter
I have an Idea to make a Welcome packet for foster children
I am going to involve my community and I am asking what should be invcluded, who better to ask than you guys...
The following are a list of things that I think may be good, if you agree kool, if you dissagree then please tell me why, or if you having something to add do ahead

Tooth brush
Tooth paste
wash cloth
coloring book
colors
comb
pillow/blanket
journal
wal-mart gift card
A stuffed toy

I plan to put everything in a pillow case with a welcome letter
What do you think :)

I am planning to be a foster parent once I am graduated with college and find a job teaching. I suppose I could be one right now but I'd like to be financially secure for the children. So, the starter pack idea caught my attention. I'm also going to be scrap booking for the children though because I was told that they need to have several pictures and things for the parents who either adopt them or get their custody back. I'm excited. I've also been looking at some houses so that I can plan ahead. How many foster kids to foster parents generally have and how common is it for there to be just a foster mom?

I like your ideas and ad:

Age specific items will not be as useful as generic ones (so colouring books may be out)

Soap is good

Hairclips for girls (not too babyish and most will like them)

Stationery can be good to do projects together, on their own if they're older, or even for doing homework

Good luck with this worthy project!
