hello everyone,
I'm new to the board as well as to fostering, I'm just wondering how long it took after being pened as a foster home before you got your first kid(s)? We live in upstate NY and have just been opened as a foster home after 9 months of paper work, training, and waiting for clearance. It has always been my dream to foster. 10 months ago my cousin had 2 FS that she couldn't handle and we started taking the boys for her thur. - Sun. to try to give her a break and ended up falling in ove with the kids. When she asked that the children be place some where else we imediately called DSS to try to foster them ourselves. Long story short the children were place with a differant family and we decided to become foster parents anyway. We are working with Berkshire Farms and would like younger kids. Is anyone else going thur a private agency? How long before you got your first placement?
