My Hubby and I have no kids. But we are self-employed and employ many teenage boys. There is one inparticular that has been a neighborhood boy to us for the past 10 years. He is now 14. He has worked For us for the past couple years odd jobs, but now that he is legally able to work we put him on the payroll. This week was spring break. So we planned he could work full time this week. Early Monday, his father came and told him he need to to work with him that day. the boy refused and said he need to work for us. The next day he tells us that his dad kicked him out of the house. He figured he could go stay at his brothers house that night and things would blow over. His father refuses to let him back in the house, but forbids him of going anywhere other than his brother's house. this is a kid who, last summer said he wished he could trade his parents for us. He said, "at least I would get three meals a day". This has broken my hearth. Then this week with him getting kicked out I feel so helpless with him. He told my hubby that we should go tell his dad that we want to adopt him. I reported to health and welfare that he is being neglected and possibly abandoned. I hadn't thought to be a foster parent until he pulled at my heart. If he were removed from his family, or he chose not to go back, how long would it take me to become a foster parent, so I could take care of him? :o

You would need to ask that question of health and welfare; what you have described is a very complicated situation.
