Contact community churches and ask them to host a Foster Parent Readiness Shower. Suggested items, personal care kits for all ages of children; fire extinguishers; smoke alarms; electrical outlet covers; diapers; disposable cameras, etc.

get the name and contact info for your local legislator
find out what is happening in your state to organize foster parents (check in with your state employee's service union)
get the email address for your local paper's "letters to the editor"
begin "googling" - get informed!
visit Amazon.com - invest in yourself and your children through education, e.g. check out Dan Hughes latest book
be happy for no reason
contribute to the "Best Practices Forum" on this site

If my son and his wife have foster children, what do I need to do to be approved to provide child care for these kids if my son & his wife need to attend to business or appointments?

Sign up at fostercares.tv (http://fostercares.tv) they supposedly have good discounts for foster parents in the works.....
Take their foster parent survey too!
