Hello! I am a single, 34yo woman interesting in becoming a foster parent in PA. Is anyone here familiar with PA's process? Does PA reimburse/pay for daycare? The child's health care? I have a house and good job but single income so my only financial concern would be the costs of daycare.
Thanks!

No daycare, but healthcare is taken care of. Daily stipend paid monthly. All done through private agencies, so check out the phone book, each one has different requirements. The one I work for (I'm a recruiter in Philly) requires you to be over 21, single or married (can't live with sig other), have $200 left over after bills, receive no public assistance. We'd do a homestudy and then you'd be responsible to provide criminal, childabuse, and FBI clearances for you and childcare providers, provide monthly bills, credit report, and pass safety inspection among other things. Takes about 90 days, including 2 8hr classes. It's a process, but we're placing someone's child in your house. Good luck.

I am also a FP in PA. The state will provide medical coverage for the child. As far as childcare, you will have to apply for subsidized daycare. Depending on what county you live, it may take awhile before you receive subsized daycare.
