I already posted a question about switching over our fostering license. Right now I am unsure what to do about switching from a private agency to the county DSS. I have made phone calls, but can't get ahold of anyone. Does anyone have any advice? We live in NC. Thanks.

I feel your pain! I had the same experience here recently. I went from a private agency to my local DCS. I don`t know how some of these agencies keep there license with the way they treat foster parents. I finally got everything transferred, but I had to really chase after them. Did you sign a release of information form? Good luck!

This is a tricky question and it may vary from state to state and agency to agency. So, I can only answer for my agency, Children's Services of Virginia. Prospective families must complete all training (4 Saturdays), background checks and home study.

When I tried that, they told me our agency was connected with them too so I did not have to change over. I wanted to change over to get younger children and they just added me to the list. However, they never called me. I know have a younger child but we are adopting him in the future. He is in the care of DSS and our agency. It is hard to contact someone at DSS because they are so short staff. Good luck, keep calling!
